I had this pop up when I was traveling internationally. My SIM didn’t have roaming enabled, so my iPhone showed SOS. It freaked me out at first, but it just meant I couldn’t use normal calls or data. Emergency calls still worked because the phone latched onto another carrier’s emergency network. As soon as I bought a local SIM, the SOS went away. It’s basically Apple’s way of letting you know you’re not totally stranded in case of danger.

Back in the day, you could gently drag right on a chat to preview. That’s the half swipe. But Snapchat updated their app, and now it usually marks as read. So unless you’re on an old version, it won’t work anymore. Stick to notification previews instead.

Scroll down your profile and hit “Create Public Profile.” If you don’t see it, your account may not meet requirements yet—age, account age, or no recent violations. Otherwise, it’s simple setup.

It depends on the source of the stickers. For ones tied to an app (like Bitmoji or a game), you’ll need to delete that app from your iPhone. For default stickers (like Memoji), you can’t delete them, only hide them in iMessage. Go into the App Drawer → More → Edit, and just turn them off. Once I did that, my keyboard looked less overwhelming, and I only kept the packs I actually used regularly. It’s not perfect, but it’s manageable.

Settings → Phone → Blocked Contacts. That’s the full list. You can also check Messages or FaceTime settings, but they show the same thing. Tap Edit to remove any number. Works the same on iOS 16 and 17.
