You don’t need a third-party app. Just check Settings > Passwords. Everything from Safari and most apps will be listed there. I like the built-in search bar—it makes finding a specific login quick, especially if you’ve got dozens stored across sites.

I tried Vanish Mode with a friend just to see how it worked. It’s actually fun—the whole chat turns dark, like “incognito mode” for DMs. We sent random memes, and once we closed the conversation, they all vanished. The catch is, you can’t enable it quietly. The other person sees a message saying Vanish Mode is on. It’s good for temporary convos, but I wouldn’t use it for anything super private since screenshots are still possible.

I used to half swipe all the time — it was great for checking messages without committing. But around 2022–23, Snapchat slowly killed it. Now, if you try to slide halfway, it marks the message as opened anyway. Some Reddit threads mention rolling back versions or jailbreaking, but that’s risky and not worth it. Instead, I just rely on my lock screen notifications. Not the same, but at least I know who messaged me without opening right away.

Check your Snapchat version—dark mode requires an updated app. On iOS: Settings → App Appearance. On Android: mixed results, only newer models support it officially. If missing, try enabling dark theme in your phone’s display settings for partial coverage.

If you can’t see the app, try Spotlight Search—swipe down on the Home Screen and type its name. If it shows up, that means it’s just off the Home Screen, so re-add it from the App Library. If it doesn’t appear in search, restrictions may be on. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy > Allowed Apps. Apps hidden by Screen Time won’t show until you allow them again. A reinstall from App Store is the last step.

There’s no built-in shortcut. To check, head to your Following list. If someone doesn’t show “Follows You” under their name, they aren’t following you back. It’s tedious but reliable. Third-party apps can automate this, but they’re risky—Instagram might suspend accounts that share credentials. Personally, I avoid them and instead focus on engagement: people who like/comment are more valuable than silent follows. But yes, if you want precision, manual checking is the only 100% safe way.

Snapchat notifications labeled “Time Sensitive” are flagged that way by iOS. It’s Apple’s system saying, “this alert can override your Focus settings.” Apps like Snapchat enable it for chats, mentions, and calls. I tested it—when Do Not Disturb was on, normal Snaps were blocked, but chats tagged “Time Sensitive” came through. If you’d rather not have that, go into your phone’s notification settings and switch off the Time Sensitive toggle for Snapchat. That puts you back in control.

On iOS, hidden apps typically result from one of three mechanisms: (1) the App Library organization system, where apps may be present but not displayed on the home screen; (2) Screen Time restrictions, which can hide or disable specific applications; and (3) offloading unused apps, a storage optimization that removes the binary but retains user data. Each case can be resolved via Settings or App Store reinstallation.
