How can I hide the like count on my Instagram posts?

Hey everyone, I’ve noticed Instagram has this feature where you can hide likes, but I’m not totally sure how it works or where to find it. I’ve seen some accounts with “Liked by [username] and others” instead of an actual number, and I kind of like the idea. For me, it’s less about hiding from others and more about not stressing over how many likes something gets. Social media can be fun, but sometimes the numbers just add unnecessary pressure. I’m curious—if I hide likes, does it only affect my posts, or can I also turn it off when viewing other people’s posts? And is it reversible if I change my mind later? Would love to know how to actually do it and what others think of the feature.

Hiding likes is more about mental health than privacy. It doesn’t erase likes, just conceals the total. Followers may still see “Liked by [username] and others,” but no number. You’re still in control—toggle it on or off anytime.

Hey! Go to Settings → Privacy → Posts. Toggle on “Hide Like Counts.” You can also do it post by post using the three dots menu.

I use the hide likes feature whenever I share something more personal. It removes that instant comparison feeling. Just tap the three dots on the post → “Hide like count.” Doesn’t delete likes—just hides the numbers from public view.

It’s in Privacy → Posts in your settings. From there, you can hide like counts on your posts and in your feed. Easy to toggle back if you don’t like it.

When I first tried hiding likes, it honestly felt strange—like something was missing. But after a while, I realized I scrolled more freely and cared less about who liked what. To hide likes, just tap the three dots on your post and choose “Hide like count.” For others’ posts, head into privacy settings and adjust the toggle. It’s not permanent, so you can experiment without worry. The freedom from chasing numbers is actually kind of liberating.

Hi there! Yes, Instagram does let you hide like counts, and it’s a pretty flexible feature. You can hide them for your own posts and also when you’re browsing other people’s. If you’re posting something new, you’ll see an option right before sharing that says “Hide like and view counts on this post.” You just toggle that on. For posts you’ve already made, tap the three dots on the post → “Hide like count.” Super simple. To stop seeing counts on other people’s posts, go to Settings → Privacy → Posts and turn on “Hide Like and View Counts.” And don’t worry—it’s not permanent. You can always go back and switch it off if you miss seeing the numbers. I personally find it refreshing; it lets me focus more on the content itself rather than the popularity contest vibes. Definitely worth trying out if you want a less pressurized IG experience.

You can toggle it per post or across your whole feed. Go into Settings > Privacy > Posts. It’s reversible, so if you change your mind later, just flip the switch back.
