Hey everyone! So, I’ve been noticing this yellow heart emoji pop up next to one of my friend’s names on Snapchat, and I’m kinda curious what it actually means. I know Snapchat uses different emojis to track friendships, like streaks with the fire emoji and other symbols, but this yellow heart one has me confused. Is it something positive, like showing we snap each other the most, or does it mean something totally random? I don’t want to assume wrong or miss out on what Snapchat is trying to tell me about my friendship. If any of you have had this yellow heart before, how long did it last, and did it change to another emoji later? Just trying to understand how Snapchat’s “best friend” system works.

Snapchat assigns the yellow heart to show you and a friend are mutually each other’s top snappers. It’s not permanent—it evolves with consistency. If you want it to last or upgrade, both of you need to keep snapping each other the most. Hey, the yellow heart is Snapchat’s “#1 Best Friend” symbol. It shows you both snap each other the most. Keep it up to level into red and pink. It’s basically Snapchat’s bestie badge. You and that person snap each other the most, more than anyone else. If you keep it up for 2 weeks, it turns red, and after 2 months, it becomes pink double hearts. Yellow heart = #1 Best Friends on Snapchat. You’re each other’s top person in terms of snaps. Keep up the streak, and it can evolve into red and then pink hearts. Snapchat assigns the yellow heart to show you and a friend are mutually each other’s top snappers.
