Hey everyone, I’ve been wondering about Instagram and privacy. You know how people can screenshot stories? I was curious if Instagram actually notifies you when someone takes a screenshot of your story. I remember hearing something a while ago that Instagram used to test a feature like that, but I’m not sure if it ever became a permanent thing. Right now, when I check my story viewers, all I see is who watched it, not if they screenshotted it. But maybe there’s a hidden setting or some trick I don’t know about. Do you get a notification, or does Instagram keep it private? I just want to be clear on whether people can screenshot without me knowing, or if there’s any way to track it.

There’s no notification if someone screenshots your Instagram story. Instagram only provides screenshot alerts in private disappearing messages. If privacy is a big concern, use the “Close Friends” feature or avoid posting sensitive content, since screenshots can’t be tracked on stories.

Hey! Instagram won’t tell you if someone screenshots your story. Only DMs with disappearing pics show that. Stories remain private to viewers, not to you.

Instagram doesn’t notify story screenshots. If someone saves your story with a screenshot, you won’t know. The only workaround is restricting your story visibility. Notifications only happen in DMs for disappearing photos or videos, not for regular stories.

No notifications for story screenshots. Instagram only reveals who viewed it. Screenshot alerts exist for disappearing DMs, but not public or close-friends stories.

Hi! Instagram currently does not notify you when someone screenshots your story. The only exception is if you send a disappearing photo or video in a direct message—then Instagram will show a little “screenshot taken” icon. A while back, Instagram experimented with alerting users about story screenshots, but they removed it after testing. Right now, if someone screenshots your story, there’s no built-in way for you to know. You’ll only see who viewed it. If privacy is your concern, you can control who sees your stories by changing your settings—either hiding stories from specific people or sharing only with “Close Friends.” That way, you limit the chance of someone saving your content without your knowledge. If you’ve got something really personal or sensitive, best to avoid posting it altogether, since once it’s online, there’s always the risk someone might capture it.

Instagram doesn’t alert you if someone screenshots a story. It only shows viewers. You’ll only get screenshot notifications for disappearing photos or videos in DMs. Stories themselves can be saved quietly, so you won’t know.

Right now, Instagram won’t show you if someone screenshots your story. The notification feature was tested but never rolled out permanently. The only time you’ll see a warning is with disappearing direct messages, not stories. If that bothers you, the safest approach is limiting who views your stories with “Close Friends.” That way, you’ll at least know the audience is trustworthy. Sadly, there’s no app-approved method to detect story screenshots.
