Hey, I’ve seen people upload photos and videos to Instagram with music playing over them, and I’d love to know how they’re doing it. I know adding music to Stories and Reels is pretty straightforward, but I’m talking about regular feed posts too. Sometimes I see a single photo with a track attached, and other times it’s a video post synced with a song. I’m not sure if Instagram built that into the app recently or if people are editing the clips with music before uploading. What’s the proper way to add music directly within Instagram, and are there any limitations depending on whether it’s a Story, Reel, or normal post? Would also appreciate tips on choosing music that won’t get flagged or muted.

Adding music is built into Instagram now. Upload your photo or video, and on the final screen where you add captions, you’ll see the “Add Music” option. From there, browse or search tracks, choose the clip, and attach it. For Reels, it’s in the editing stage; for Stories, it’s through the music sticker. If your account doesn’t show the option, it might be because of licensing or being a business profile. In that case, edit the video externally first. Hey, Instagram rolled out music for regular posts not too long ago, so now you can add tracks directly without third-party editing. When you upload a photo or video to your feed, you’ll see an “Add Music” option on the caption screen, right below where you write text and tag people. Tap it, search for a song, pick the section of the track you want (usually 5–15 seconds), and it attaches to your post. For Reels and Stories, it’s been around longer. You just hit the music sticker in Stories or the audio tab when making a Reel. Same deal: select a track and the exact snippet. The only catch: not every country has the full music library because of licensing. Also, business accounts sometimes face restrictions. If you want guaranteed control, you can always edit your video with music before uploading—but the in-app feature works great for most people. When posting, tap “Add Music” before sharing. Choose a track, adjust the clip length, and publish. Works for photos and videos, plus Reels/Stories. Availability depends on your region and account type. You’ll find “Add Music” on the final posting screen. Tap it, pick a track snippet, and it attaches to your feed post. Reels and Stories use their own built-in music tools. Instagram lets you add music to posts by selecting “Add Music” before sharing. You can choose a snippet of a track, similar to Stories and Reels. If the option isn’t available, you’re likely in a restricted region or using a business account. Hi, just upload your photo/video, then hit “Add Music” before posting. Pick your track and clip section—it’s quick and built right into Instagram now. To add music: upload your content → look for “Add Music” → select a song and clip → share. Works for feed posts, Reels, and Stories. Restrictions may apply depending on account type and region, so editing outside Instagram is sometimes the fallback option.
